Jill Anne Designs
wood burned art - crafted in Fort Collins, CO
Jill Anne Designs is a fine craft business that proudly makes unique one of a kind items, created and designed by Fort Collins artist Jill Popplewell.
Jill is an Iowa native, that is passionate about creating with her hands. Undeniably an artist since she was young. It all started when she walked thru the door of a local art center to take her first ceramics class at the age of twelve. Her personal journey of creativity led to getting a BFA with a concentration in ceramics from Iowa State University. After graduation she felt the mountains were calling her and quickly packed up to move out west. Jill has been living and creating her art in Fort Collins, Colorado, since 2003. She is a collector of handmade mugs, devoted chai tea drinker, dog lover, crazy about polka dots and enjoys organizing. Jill likes to stay busy creating original art in many forms, whether it’s using clay, glass or wood. Pyrography (wood burning) is her latest obsession. The majority of her work features original Colorado themed mountain mandala designs. She starts with a blank piece of wood, uses a compass and pencil to draw out the first circle of the design. For her the mandala represents balance, peace and harmony. Designing the pattern of the mandala is a calming process, it almost seems to create itself, one layer at a time the concentric pattern is formed. When the design is complete the pencil marks are made official by tracing with a wood burning tool. Bright colors are hand-painted between the wood burned lines and it’s finished off with a protective clear coat. Reproductions of the originals are available in prints, magnets and stickers. Other items include wood burned utensils, little mountains and other lovely goodies. All items ship free - USPS first class mail.
